Selected by the Colorado Rockies in the fourth round of the 2002 First-Year Player Draft ... his father, Larry, played baseball at Army and worked in the Air Defense division of the Army for 22 years ... the Baker family has lived in nine different places around the world, including Germany, Key West and the United Arab Emirates ... was the Virginia State Player of the Year and Gatorade Virginia Player of the Year at Gar-Field Senior High School in 1999 ... drafted by the Indians that June but chose to enroll at Clemson instead ... battled a wrist injury for much of his first professional season, but still hit .289 with 11 homers and 44 RBI in 70 games at Class A Asheville ...
