Selected by the Colorado Rockies in the 11th round of the June 2002 First-Year Player Draft...signed by Mike Day...was previously selected by the Rockies out of high school in the eighth round of the June 1998 Draft, but did not sign...was traded by the Rockies to the Kansas City Royals, along with Scott Dohmann, in exchange for Jeremy Affeldt and Denny Bautista, on July 31, 2006...is a 1998 graduate of Cardinal Gibbons High School in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., where he was named to Collegiate Baseball TPX Louisville Slugger All-American team...also lettered in basketball, football and volleyball...attended the University of Florida, where he set single-season school records in RBIs (80) and total bases (186) while tying the Florida mark with 23 home runs during his senior year in 2002...the single-season home run record he had shared with Major Leaguer Brad Wilkerson was broken in 2005...only Wilkerson (55) and Matt LaPorta (40) have hit more career homers at Florida than Shealy (39), who only played two seasons because of injuries...he holds the school mark for career putouts with 1,178.
