Selected by the Chicago Cubs in the 10th round of 2004 Draft ... graduated from Stanford University with an economics degree ... earned All-Pac 10 honors in his first three seasons ... his 1,071 at-bats and 268 runs scored marked school records and his 110 hits in his sophomore season led the conference and set the single-season school record ... hit an even .300 in 2005 and 2006, his first two seasons of pro ball ... made his Major League debut vs. LAD on Sept. 5, 2007, one day after he was recalled by the Cubs from Double-A Tennessee ... batted .402 (43-for-107) in 29 games for the Mesa Solar Sox in 2007 en route to Arizona Fall League MVP honors ... spent most of 2010 at Triple-A Iowa, where he led the club with nine triples (5th in the Pacific Coast League) and was second in walks (66) and steals (21) ... acquired by the Tampa Bay Rays along with RH Chris Archer, C Robinson Chirinos, OF Brandon Guyer and INF Hak-Ju Lee from Chicago in exchange for RH Matt Garza, OF Fernando Perez and LH Zach Rosscup, Jan. 8, 2011.
