Selected by the Orioles in the third round (93rd overall) of the June 2005 First-Year Player Draft out of McDonogh (Owings Mills, Md.) ... spent most of the 2005 season at Rookie League Bluefield and averaged 18.5 strikeouts per nine innings while holding opponents to a .103 average (8-for-78) ... did not allow a run in 13 of his 27 starts for Class A Delmarva in 2006 ... struck out 10.4 batters per nine innings and held opponents to a .217 average ... named the Orioles No. 10 prospect by Baseball America after the 2007 season ... led the Carolina League in strikeouts (151) and finished 2nd in innings pitched (150 2/3) in 2008 ... went 5-3 with a team-leading 2.34 ERA (73.0IP, 19ER) in 2009, allowing only 44 hits in 14 starts for Double-A Bowie ... went 0-10 with a 5.73 ERA (70.2IP, 45ER) in 14 starts with Triple-A Norfolk in 2010 ... shut down with a torn labrum in his right shoulder and had surgery (performed by Dr. Lewis Yocum) on Aug. 13, 2010.
