2016 Highlights
Spent the year with Baltimore, hitting .249 with 22 home runs, 20 doubles and 49 RBI in 109 games...Was one of six Orioles to hit 20 home runs (Chris Davis, Adam Jones, Manny Machado, Jonathan Schoop Mark Trumbo)...Hit 21 of his 22 home runs against right-handed pitching, as he hit .251/.326/.522 against right-handers...Registered a walk-off sacrifice fly on May 5 vs. New York, his four career walk-off RBI...Had three multi-homer games, including a three-hit, five RBI contest on June 21 vs. San Diego...Hit six homers over a five-game span from July 30-August 5, the most homers he's hit in a five-game span in his career...Registered two Eutaw Street home runs: May 8 vs. Oakland and September 2 vs. the New York Yankees...Over his final 73 games, he hit .266 (61-229) with 12 doubles, 19 home runs, 37 RBI and 36 runs scored...Ended the year with 133 home runs since the beginning of 2012, tied for the 19th-most in Major League Baseball...Was on Baltimore's American League Wild Card Game roster but did not appear in the contest.

PERSONAL: Pedro Manuel Álvarez was re-signed by Baltimore as a minor league free agent on 3/12/17...Originally chosen by Pittsburgh in the 1st round (2nd overall) of the 2008 draft...Was selected by Boston in the 14th round of the 2005 draft but did not sign....Is a 2005 graduate of Horace Mann High School in Riverdale, NY, where he was the Gatorade and Louisville Slugger New York High School Player of the Year his senior season...Holds the Horace Mann HS career records in batting average, home runs, RBI, slugging percentage, walks and on-base percentage...Compiled a .349 batting average, 51 doubles, 49 home runs and 162 RBI in 170 games during his three seasons at Vanderbilt (2006-08)...Named the 2006 Freshman of the Year by Baseball America, and helped the Commodores capture the 2008 SEC championship...His wife, Keli, is the daughter of former San Diego Padres manager and current Milwaukee Brewers bench coach Pat Murphy.
