2018: Opened the year with Triple-A Memphis in the St. Louis system, going 4-2 with a 4.66 ERA in 24 games (six starts) for the Redbirds... Limited Pacific Coast League left-handers to a .191 average (9-47)... Released by St. Louis on 7/2 and signed with Baltimore on 7/13... Appeared in seven games (three starts) with Norfolk, going 2-0 with a 3.14 ERA. Posted a 1.00 ERA (1 ER, 9.0 IP) in his three spot starts with the Tides... Had his contract selected by Baltimore on 8/11 and made 12 relief appearances with the Orioles, going 1-1 with a 3.00 ERA... Worked 2.0 or more innings in seven of his 12 games with Baltimore... Limited big league left-handers to a .146 average (6-41)... Earned a win vs. Toronto on 8/29 - his first MLB victory since 8/24/15 at Philadelphia.
2017: Opened the year in the Mets system, making 10 appearances (eight starts) between New York and Triple-A Las Vegas. Made two relief outings with the Mets and was 2-2 with a 7.05 ERA in eight starts for Las Vegas before being designated for assignment on 6/11... Claimed off of waivers by St. Louis on 6/11 and assigned to Triple-A Memphis, where he posted a 5.68 ERA in eight games (one start)... Made five postseason appearances with Memphis as the Redbirds captured the PCL title.
2016: Spent the majority of the season with Las Vegas, going 9-7 with a 4.86 ERA in 19 games... Ranked among 51s leaders in wins (2nd, 9), innings (2nd, 107.1) and strikeouts (2nd, 94)... Earned a complete game win in a weather-shortened game vs Tacoma on 4/28 (5.0 IP)... Threw a career-high 120 pitches on 6/14 vs Reno, allowing one run in 8.2 innings.
CAREER HIGHLIGHTS: Appeared in Game 2 of the 2015 World Series with the Mets vs. Kansas City, retiring the only two batters he faced (Ben Zobrist and Lorenzo Cain)... Traded by Atlanta to Minnesota in exchange for C Ryan Doumit, on 12/18/13... Named a Southern League Midseason and Postseason All-Star with Mississippi in 2012... Made seven starts for Triple-A Gwinnett at the age of 22 during the 2012 season... Was a Braves 2012 MiLB.com Organizational All-Star.
PERSONAL: Re-signed by Baltimore as a free agent, 11/2/18. Had signed with the Orioles on 7/13/18... Originally selected by Atlanta in the 1st round (28th overall) of the 2011 draft. Was drafted by San Diego in the 31st round of the 2008 draft but did not sign... Attended Florida State University, where he was named First Team All-American by Baseball America, Collegiate Baseball and the NCBWA, as well as First Team All-ACC, during his junior year in 2011. He started the opening game of the 2010 College World Series as a sophomore, and he was the first freshman in FSU history to be named First Team All-ACC in 2009... Attended Crespi Carmelite High School (Encino, CA), a school that also counts MLBers Rick Dempsey, Jeff Suppan, Trevor Plouffe and Mets GM Brodie Van Wagenen as alumni... His father (Paul) and brother (Michael), along with his two uncles, also played pro baseball. Michael was selected in the 27th round of the 2009 draft by Oakland.
