2017: Split the year between Double-A San Antonio and Triple-A El Paso in the San Diego organization... Between the two levels, went 10-4 with a 4.19 ERA; his 10 wins tied for the 3rd-most among Padres minor leaguers... Went 7-2 with a 2.98 ERA and 91 strikeouts in 84.2 IP (15 starts) for San Antonio... Named a Texas League Midseason All-Star after going 6-2 with a 2.86 ERA in 14 first half starts for San Antonio... Held Texas League batters to a .221 average, with right-handers hitting .195 (37-190) against him... 2014: Appeared in 15 games (14 starts) for Class-A Eugene... Went 7-5 with a 4.05 ERA (33 ER, 73.1 IP), 71 strikeouts, and 25 walks... Allowed one earned run or less in seven starts and did not give up an earned run in five of those outings... Also recorded at least five strikeouts in seven starts for the Emeralds.
2013: Saw time with Class-A Fort Wayne and Class-A Eugene... Posted a 3-2 record with a 5.75 ERA (36 ER, 56.1 IP) and 49 strikeouts in 33 combined games (zero starts) between the two teams...Went 1-0 with a 2.25 ERA (2 ER, 8.0 IP) in his first seven appearances in the month of May.
2012: Began his professional career with Class-A Fort Wayne where he appeared in seven relief outings, going 0-2 with a 7.53 ERA (12 ER, 14.1 IP)... Went 3.0 innings while allowing two runs on five hits and walking three in his debut against Lake County on 4/7... Also made 13 appearances (six starts) for the AZL Padres where he posted a 0-5 record with a 7.11 ERA (35 ER, 44.1 IP).
PERSONAL: Michael Joseph Kelly was signed by Baltimore as a free agent, 12/14/17...Originally selected by San Diego as a supplemental round selection (48th overall) of the 2011 draft...Attended West Boca Raton (FL) High School, where he went 10-1 with a 1.81 ERA and five shutouts to help pitch West Boca to its first 5A State Championship in 2011...Was slated to enroll at the University of Florida before electing to sign with San Diego.
