2016 Highlights
Split the year between Durham, Montgomery and Charlotte in the Tampa Bay system, posting a 6.91 ERA in 13 games...Opened the season with Durham, posting an 8.44 ERA with 10 strikeouts in six games (5.1 innings pitched)... Placed on Durham's disabled list on May 1 (right shoulder injury)...Designated for assignment by Tampa Bay on June 24; outrighted to Durham on June 28...Made three rehab appearances with Class-A Charlotte from June 30 - July 5 before joining Double-A Montgomery...Appeared in four games with Montgomery from July 8-17 before being placed on the DL for rest of year (shoulder).
2015: Appeared in 17 games over four stints with the Rays after his selection from Triple-A Durham on May 9…Was up with the Rays from May 9-17, June 1-6, June 9-July 11 and Sep 8-season's end…Also spent time on the disabled list (June 10-July 8) with right shoulder tendinitis...Made his major league debut vs. Texas the night he was selected, with 3.1 scoreless innings…Became the 10th Ray to win his major league debut, and third to do so as a reliever (first since Doug Waechter on 8/23/03 at SEA)…Was the first Ray to get the win in a relief appearance of 3.0 IP or more in his major league debut…13 of his 17 appearances were scoreless, including six straight from September 19-27…Carried a 1.19 ERA (3 ER, 22.2 IP) into his final apperance, before allowing three earned runs on October 2 vs. Toronto...On June 5 at Seattle, became the first player in club history to record two wins in his first four career appearances, all in relief.
2014: Spent the entire season with Double-A Montgomery…Recorded a career-high 46 appearances, six saves and 23 games finished…Compiled 80 strikeouts, tied for the team lead among relievers.
2013: Split the season between Class-A Charlotte and Montgomery…Opened the year with the Stone Crabs and made just two appearances before a promotion to the Biscuits…Allowed at least three runs in six of 14 outings with Montgomery and on June 9 was returned to Charlotte, where he spent the remainder of the season.
2012: Made one start in 2012 but transitioned full time to a relief role with Class-A Bowling Green…Threw a career-high 91 innings and registered a career-best 99 strikeouts, most among Hot Rods relievers.
2011: Spent the full season with Short-A Hudson Valley, starting 13 of his 15 outings…Finished with a 2.63 ERA, the 7th-lowest mark in the New York-Penn League and 3rd-lowest mark in the Rays organization, behind Matt Moore (1.92) and teammate Roberto Gomez (2.20)…Led the Renegades pitching staff with 63 strikeouts.
2010: His 63 strikeouts for Rookie-level Princeton ranked 2nd on the club behind LHP Enny Romero (72).
PERSONAL: Andrew James Bellatti was signed by Baltimore as a minor league free agent on 3/14/17...Originally selected by Tampa Bay in the 12th round of the 2009 draft...Attended Steele Canyon High School in Spring Valley, CA, and is the first player ever drafted out of that high school...Committed to Cal State Fullerton before signing with the Rays...His father, Ron, coached his baseball team from when he was four years old through high school.
