Selected by the Chicago Cubs out of The Citadel in the ninth round (No. 290 overall) of the June 2009 First-Year Player Draft. ... Jones began the 2010 season in the Chiefs outfield but was sent to extended spring training on May 27 after hitting .216 with two home runs and eight doubles in 37 games. ... With the Chiefs he played both corner outfield positions and first base while driving in 17 runs. ... Jones had three hits on April 14 against Cedar Rapids, and again on May 22 against Quad Cities. ... His two homers came in back to back games against Clinton on April 30 and May 2, both at home. ... He joined the Class A Short-Season Boise Hawks and after a slow start, Jones hit .339 in July with 16 extra-base hits and 23 RBIs in 29 games. ...
