2014: Rated by several publications among the Top 100 prospects in baseball, including Baseball Prospectus (#10), Baseball America (#20), ESPN.com (#23) and MLB.com (#31)...Went 1-3 with a 3.32 ERA in 11 starts for Norfolk...Did not allow a run over a three-start stretch, April 20 to May 10 (14.1 IP)...Tossed a season-high 6.1 shutout innings on May 25 at Gwinnett as he earned his second Triple-A victory...Posted a 1.93 ERA in six starts at Harbor Park. Placed on the minor league DL, May 2, retroactive to April 30, with left intercostal strain...Had six stints with the O's, May 14-15, June 6-20, and 27, July 6-7 and 12-August 27, and September 1- end of season...Allowed three earned runs or fewer in 16 of his 20 starts for the O's, posting nine Quality Starts...Posted a 3.18 ERA (18 ER, 51.0 IP) in nine road starts and a 3.90 ERA (27 ER, 62.1 IP) in 11 home starts...His road ERA was the 2nd-best road mark among AL rookies (min. 8 GS)... 2013: Split the season between Double-A Bowie, Norfolk and Baltimore, going 6-11 with a 3.86 ERA (62 ER, 144.2 IP) in 36 games (20 starts)...Opened the year with Bowie, where he registered 49 strikeouts in 46.1 innings pitched, including a season-high 10 punchouts in his final game with the Baysox on May 17 at Trenton...Promoted to Baltimore and made his Major League debut on May 23 at Toronto, where he took the loss (5.0 IP, 7 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 5 K)...Recorded first MLB strikeout in that contest, fanning Edwin Encarnacion in the first inning...In five starts with the O's he went 0-3 with a 7.66 ERA (21 ER, 24.2 IP) before being optioned to Norfolk on June 13...Collected first MLB win on June 28 vs. New York (AL), tossing 4.1 shutout innings of relief...Optioned back to Norfolk on July 9... Pitched in seven games during his second stint with the Tides, going 1-1 with a 2.73 ERA (9 ER, 29.2 IP), 29 strikeouts and eight walks... Attended Louisiana State University, where he was a First-Team All-American (Collegiate Baseball, Perfect Game, ABCA) and First-Team All-SEC as a sophomore in 2012...Led the SEC and finished third in the nation with 135 strikeouts during his 2012 season at LSU...Was the third Orioles first-round pick out of LSU, joining IF Mike Fontenot (2001 - 19th overall) and RHP Ben McDonald (1989 - 1st overall)...His pitching coach at LSU was former O's bullpen coach Alan Dunn (coached with Orioles from 2007-2010)...Was a two-time All-State selection at Grandview High School (CO)...Was a gold medal winner with the USA Baseball Junior National Team in 2009...His father, Clair, is a college football referee.
