Acquired By Oakland:   Via trade with the Boston Red Sox, December 28, 2011. Acquired with (OF) Josh Reddick and (IF) Miles Head in exchange for (former RockHounds pitcher) Andrew Bailey and (OF) Ryan Sweeney.

Entered the 2014 season rated Oakland's # 4 prospect by Baseball America...Made two Cactus League appearances with Oakland, facing the Giants and Brewers: (0-0, 0.00) 4.0 IP … 3 H … 1 R / 0 ER … 1 W … 2 K...underwent Tommy John surgery in April and was out the rest of the year.

Entered 2013 season rated Oakland's # 26 prospect by Baseball America...Split the season between Beloit (Single-A Midwest League) and Stockton (Advanced-A California League … went a combined 12-6, with a 3.22 ERA...Ranked fifth among all Single-A pitchers in wins, ranked seventh with 156.1 innings pitched and tied for seventh in starts (27)...Had a 10-game win streak between April 9 and July 8 (2.06 ERA in16 starts over that stretch)

Prior to his trade to Oakland, was rated Boston's # 27 prospect by Baseball America in 2012...Opened the season in Burlington's rotation (5-8, 5.38) … last 10 appearances came as a reliever (1-3, 3.63, and held opponents to a .234 average)...Pitched (at age 19) above the Short-A / Rookie levels for the first time in his career 

Split the 2011 season between Boston's two Short-A clubs (Gulf Coast League & Lowell) ... went a combined 1-4, with a 2.20 ERA...Named to the Gulf Coast League Postseason All-Star Team and was the GCL Pitcher of the Year (1-1, with a league-leading 0.75 ERA in nine starts)
