Ranked No. 2 among Twins prospects by MLB.com entering the 2014 season. ... Finished second in the Minor Leagues in slugging percentage, OPS and extra-base hits (70), third in homers, sixth in total bases and seventh in RBIs in 2013. ...In 2011, finished second in the Appalachian League in home runs (20) and runs scored (58) and ranked third in RBIs (59) and slugging percentage (.637). ... Was one of the subjects of the 2011 documentary, "Ballplayer: Pelotero." ... Signed by the Minnesota Twins as a non-drafted free agent on Oct. 9, 2009... missed the 2014 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery to reconstruct a torn ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) in his right (throwing) elbow in March. Surgery was performed by Dr. David Altchek, team physician for the New York Mets, at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York... following surgery, Sano expressed confidence he would play again in the fall of 2014.
