2019
♦ Split the season between Baltimore and Norfolk. Went 1-10 with a 7.09 ERA in 23 games (14 starts) with the Orioles and 3-2 with a 4.57 ERA in 13 games (four starts) with the Tides.
♦ Had five stints with the Orioles: Opening Day - 6/17, 7/13-14, 7/29 - 8/8, 9/3 - end of year. 
♦ Earned a win on 4/1 at Toronto after striking out eight over 6.1 hitless innings. 
♦ Received three runs or fewer of support in 13 of his 14 starts with the Orioles. 
♦ Surrendered 28 home runs, including 13 long balls in six appearances against the Yankees.

2018
♦ Split the year between Baltimore and Norfolk. Went 3-10 with a 4.88 ERA in four stints with the Orioles and was 3-2 with a 3.15 ERA in nine starts with the Tides. 
♦ Opened the year with Norfolk, going 2-0 with a 2.12 ERA over six starts before being promoted to Baltimore on 5/12. His 2.12 ERA ranked 9th in the IL when he was recalled.
♦ Struck out a career-high 10 batters and took a no-hitter into the 7th inning in a win at Durham on 5/8. (7.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 10 K).
♦ Made his MLB debut in game one of a doubleheader vs. Tampa Bay on 5/12. Earned the win in that contest, retiring 16 of the final 18 batters he faced in Baltimore's 6-3 victory. Became the first Oriole to start and win his MLB debut since Mike Wright did so on 5/17/15.
♦ With Chance Sisco behind the plate during his MLB debut, Hess' start marked the first time an O's pitcher made their MLB debut with a rookie catcher since 8/4/09. 
♦ Optioned to Norfolk and made three starts with the Tides in July before returning to Baltimore on 7/28. Registered a 3.81 ERA in 11 games (10 starts) after the All-Star break.


2017
♦ Entered the season rated as the #18 prospect in the Orioles system per MLB.com
♦ Spent the year with Bowie, where he went 11-9 with a 3.85 ERA in 27 games (26 starts).
♦ Ranked among Eastern League leaders in innings pitched (2nd, 154.1), strikeouts (3rd, 123), opponents batting average (3rd, .235), wins (T-3rd, 11) and ERA (11th, 3.85).
♦ Among EL starters, ranked 4th in baserunners per nine IP (11.31) and 5th in average (.238).
♦ Earned two Eastern League Pitcher of the Week awards (7/3 and 8/28).
♦ Allowed three earned runs or fewer in 20 of his 26 outings, including four scoreless outings.
♦ Set a career-high with 8.0 innings and allowed just one hit in a win at Altoona, 8/25.
♦ Added to Baltimore's 40-man roster after having contract selected, 11/20.


2016
♦ Spent entire season with Bowie, going 5-13 with a 5.37 ERA in 25 games (24 starts).
♦ Ranked among Baysox leaders in innings pitched (1st, 127.1), strikeouts (1st, 85), starts (T-1st, 24) and wins (T-2nd, 5).
♦ Allowed three earned runs or less in 17 of his 25 appearances.
♦ Was 2-1 with a 2.33 ERA (10 ER, 38.2 IP) over his first seven starts of the season.
♦ Struck out a season-high six batters on three different occasions.
♦ Allowed one hit and did not allow an earned run in a win at Richmond, 7/17.
♦ Tossed the second complete game of his professional career in the first game of a doubleheader, 8/17 at Hartford.


2015
♦ Spent most of the season with Frederick, where he was 9-4 with a 3.58 ERA in 26 games.
♦ Joined Bowie on 9/1 and made two starts, going 1-1 with a 4.50 ERA.
♦ His 122 strikeouts between the two levels ranked second among O's farmhands (Mitch Horacek, 146). Also ranked among O's minor leaguers in wins (4th, 10) and ERA (6th, 3.64).
♦ Ranked among Carolina League leaders in batting average against (2nd, .224), strikeouts per 9 IP (4th, 7.41), strikeouts (5th, 110) and ERA (9th, 3.58).
♦ Went 7-0 with a 1.34 ERA (10 ER, 67.0 IP) in 12 starts after the All-Star Break.
♦ Was a two-time Carolina League Pitcher of the Week (6/22-29 and 8/24-31).
♦ Named O's MiLB Pitcher of the Month for July (2-0, 1.82 ERA) and August (4-0, 0.99 ERA).
♦ Notched a complete game, one-hit shutout in his final start with the Keys, 8/25 at Potomac.
♦ Went 2-0 with a 0.64 ERA in two postseason starts for Bowie (1 ER, 14.0 IP, 4 H, 11 K).
♦ Earned the win in Game 4 of the Eastern League Championship Series vs Reading, allowing just three hits and one earned run with eight strikeouts over 7.0 innings of work.


2014
♦ Made 10 appearances in his debut season for Class-A Aberdeen (8) and Delmarva (2).
♦ Named to the New York-Penn League All-Star Team.

 

PERSONAL
♦ Selected by Baltimore in the 5th round of the 2014 draft.
♦ Attended Tennessee Tech, where he majored in Biomolecular Chemical Engineering. Was the highest Tennessee Tech University player to be drafted since 1969.
♦ Led the Ohio Valley Conference in wins (9) and strikeouts (104) with TTU in 2014.
♦ Named District Pitcher of the Year at Tullahoma High School in Tennessee after going 8-1 with a 1.91 ERA and 102 strikeouts his senior year. Was high school teammates with LHP Justus Sheffield, the #13 prospect in the Mariners organization according to MLB.com.
