Selected by the Minnesota Twins in the first round (30th overall) of the 2011 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of North Carolina. ... Hit .297 with five homers, three triples, 14 doubles and 48 RBIs in 60 games for the Tar Heels in 2011. ... As a junior, he started all 60 games for North Carolina in 2010 and led the club in batting (.346)
while scoring 76 runs, which ranked 12th in the nation. ... In 2009, he was named to the Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American Team and to the NCBWA Freshman All-American Second-Team. ...
