Selected by the Houston Astros in the second round (No. 42 overall) of the 2014 MLB Draft out of the University of Kentucky... signed with the Astros on June 9, 2014... ranked the No. 30 overall prospect in the Draft... was a two-way player for the University of Kentucky, playing both first base and pitcher... batted .336 with 23 HR, 18 2B, 1 3B, 73 RBIs, 60 R, and a .476 OBP while also going 12-2 with a 2.09 ERA and 71 K in 2014... led his team in HR, RBI, AVG, OBP and BB as a batter and in W, K and IP as a pitcher en route to being named Collegiate National Baseball Player of the Year and SEC Player of the Year... also won the USA Basbeall Golden Spikes Award in 2014.
