A 2014 10th round selection in the First-Year Player Draft, Sturgeon hit .325 with a .410 OBP, .468 slugging mark, two home runs and 18 steals as a senior at the University of Louisville…A two-way player, Sturgeon went 3-0 with a 2.06 ERA in 24 games, striking out 35 in 34 innings pitched…In 2013, Sturgeon earned third team All-Big East honors and was team's leading hitter with a .339 average to go with one home run, nine doubles and 13 stolen bases in 60 starts for the Cardinals… Made 14 relief appearances on the mound with a 2.08 ERA and one save… Went 5-for-7 in Cardinals' two College World Series games in Omaha… Was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored against Rutgers in Big East Championship.
