Selected by the Kansas City Royals in the first round (No. 40 overall) of the 2014 MLB Draft out of St. Thomas More High School in Lafayette, Louisiana... signed with the Royals on June 10, 2014 for $1.35 million... ranked as the No. 49 overall prospect in the Draft... committed to Mississippi State before being drafted... helped his team win the 2014 Class 4A State Championship... batted .545 with 13 HR, 62 RBIs, 45 R and a .667 OBP in 2014 and was named the Gatorade Louisiana Player of the Year. …rated 11th among Appalachian League prospects by Baseball America, 2014. Hit seven homers and drove in 27 runs with Burlington (APP) in 2014 professional debut. With Lexington in 2015, in 80 games, batted .219, but hit 13 homers, ranking third on the team. Had 13 doubles and three triples, 40 RBI. Hit six homers in the month of August, and hit walk-off homers August 28 vs. Rome and Sept. 5 vs. Hagerstown.
