Selected by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 31st round of the 2016 Draft out of Georgia State... debuted with Rookie-level GCL Rays in 2016, going 7-for-41 in 14 games... from Holly Springs, North Carolina... parents are Jim and Cheri Roach, and he has a twin brother, Mike ... majored in actuarial science at Georgia State ... was the baseball team's representative on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee at Georgia State... holds the Holly Springs High School records for career home runs and RBIs... was a four-time academic all-conference honoree and National Honor Society member in high school, where he was also a two-time all-conference selection in football and the team's Defensive MVP... he was also a conference champion in wrestling... named to the CAA All-Rookie team in 2013... was a first-team All-Sun Belt Conference selection in 2014... was second-team Capital One Academic All-American, just the second Academic All-American in Georgia State program's history in 2015, when he was also a semifinalist for the Johnny Bench Award as the top catcher in Division I... in 2016, he was a semifinalist for the Johnny Bench Award for the second year in a row... ranks 13th in GSU history in homers and 11th in RBIs... he was hit by a pitch 28 times, second most in school history, and he's also tied for 10th in games played (199) and 12th in doubles (40) at GSU.
