2018: Spent the entire season with Double-A Bowie, going 14-7 with a 3.27 ERA in 25 starts... Shared the Jim Palmer Award for Orioles Minor League Pitcher of the Year with LHP Zac Lowther. He was honored in an on-field ceremony at Camden Yards on September 15th... Named the Eastern League Pitcher of the Year, and was selected as both a Midseason and Postseason Eastern League All-Star. He worked a scoreless inning in the EL All-Star Game... Led the Eastern League in strikeouts (142), wins (14), opponent's batting average (.225) and strikeouts per nine IP among starters (9.28). Also ranked among league leaders in ERA (3rd, 3.27), fewest baserunners per nine IP among starters (3rd, 11.51) and walks (5th, 58)... His 14 victories were tied for second in all of Minor League Baseball. The only pitcher with more wins was Cincinnati farmhand Scott Moss, who registered 15 victories. The 14 wins were the 2nd-most in Bowie franchise history behind Brad Bergesen's 15 wins in 2008... Ranked second among Orioles farmhands with 142 strikeouts (trailing Zac Lowther's 151 punchouts), while his 3.27 ERA ranked 5th in the O's organization... Held EL left-handed batters to a .211 average, while right-handers batted .232 against him... Went 9-1 with a 2.58 ERA in 11 road starts. He struck out 73 while allowing 51 hits in 66.1 innings away from home while holding opponents to a .214 average.
PERSONAL: Selected by Baltimore in the 2nd round (54th overall) of the 2016 draft... Attended Western Michigan University, where he posted a 3.07 ERA and 270 strikeouts in 49 outings for the Broncos. Posted a 1.82 ERA in 17 games (17 starts) in 2016 and set the WMU school record with 133 strikeouts, surpassing the previous record of 99 strikeouts... Guided the Broncos to a Mid-American Conference (MAC) championship in 2016 and their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1989... Was the highest draft pick by a Western Michigan University player since 1970... Attended Bullock Creek High School (Midland, MI), where he went 10-0 with 104 strikeouts in 49.0 innings pitched during his senior year. Threw a perfect game, two no-hitters and three one-hitters during his senior year in high school.
