Selected by the Cleveland Indians in the second round with the No. 67 overall pick in the 2018 Draft out of the University of Southern Mississipi... made his Minor League debut on 6/18/18 with the AZL Indians... earned his first victory on 8/6/18 for Class A Advanced Lynchburg... promoted for the third time in two months to Double-A Akron on 8/22/18... ranked as the Indians' No. 18 prospect as of August 2018... in his junior year at Southern Miss, Sandlin became a full-time starter and went 10-0 with a 1.06 ERA and 144 strikeouts... went to Greenbrier High School... originally from Evans, Georgia... son of John and Daisy Sandlin; his older brother, Jake, played at Southern Miss in 2015 and as of 2018 was an assistant baseball coach at Georgia College…majoring in Construction Engineering Technology at Southern Miss... in high school, he owned a career 24-2 record with 1.23 ERA in 30 appearances... he struck out 211 and walked 65... in 2016 at Southern Miss, he was named Freshman All-American by Louisville Slugger/Collegiate Baseball as the team's primary closer... in 2017 at Southern Miss, he was voted All-America by several publications including a first-team honor by Perfect Game/Rawlings, second team by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and a third-team nod by Collegiate Basebal... named Conference USA Scholar-Athlete of the Year for Baseball on Aug. 16, 2018...  chosen as C-USA's Michael L. Slive Male Athlete of the Year for 2017-18, was a semifinalist for both the Golden Spikes Award and the Dick Howser Award for top collegiate baseball player in the country... transitioned from closer to starter at Southern Miss but returned to the bullpen upon joining Cleveland.
