Won the 2010 Mike Sweeney Award as the Royals' Minor League player who best represents the organization on and off the field. ... Graduated from Logan-Rogersville High, where he went 10-2 with a 1.43 ERA and 143 strikeouts, earning all-state honors as a senior ... named Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher of the Year as a junior after finishing 11-1 with a 3.23 ERA and 101 strikeouts in 86 1/3 innings ... earned second team All-America recognition from Collegiate Baseball and the ABCA ... named as a finalist for the College Baseball Foundation Pitcher of the Year and as a semifinalist for the USA Baseball Golden Spikes Award ... led Wilmington with 113 strikeouts in 2010, his first full professional season ...
