66ers and Angels Agree to Two Year Extension

Inland Empire Will Continue to Represent the Angels in the California League through 2014
October 1, 2012

San Bernardino, CA- The Inland Empire 66ers reached an agreement with the Los Angeles Angels to remain the Halos representative in the California League through the end of the 2014 season. The affiliation between the two clubs began in February of 2011. Since that time, San Manuel Stadium has become a sea of red during 66ers home games, welcoming Angel's fans from all across the southland.

The partnership has also seen four members of the 66ers squad called up to the Angels and subsequently make their first major league appearance, Kole Calhoun, David Carpenter, Jean Segura, and Nick Maronde.

66ers Assistant General Manager, Ryan English stated, "When our fans come to San Manuel Stadium, they enjoy the family fun atmosphere, affordable pricing, and of course seeing top Angel's prospects in action. We are thrilled to continue what, in our opinion, has already been a positive relationship and one we hope to continue well beyond this extension."

English continued, "Since 1963, the Angels have had a High-A representative in the California League in cities such as San Jose, Stockton, Salinas, Palm Springs, Lake Elisnore, and Rancho Cucamonga. It makes sense for them to be here in San Bernardino; they have a strong fan base here and are close to the Angel Stadium."

Angel's Assistant General Manager, Scott Servais noted of the extension, "Over the first two years of this partnership, the Inland Empire 66ers have quickly become a special part of the Los Angeles Angels family. From the outstanding relationship between our two front offices, to the incredible amount of support we have seen from Angels fans and the San Bernardino community alike, we are very excited that the 66ers will continue to play a major role in our player development process for years to come."

In a July interview, Jerry Dipoto, Angel's General Manager said of the partnership, "As an organization we are proud to call the Inland Empire 66ers a part of the Angels family. Scouting and Player Development are the lifeblood of a baseball organization and the relationship with a top notch affiliate like Inland Empire is essential to success."

The 2013 season will kick off on Thursday April 4, 2013 at San Manuel Stadium when the 66ers take on the Modesto Nuts.
