66ers Win Streak Ends at Five

June 29, 2013

Lake Elsinore, CA - After finding a way to win five consecutive games the Inland Empire 66ers (44-36, 7-3) could not find a way to win their sixth, blowing a five run lead on the way to a 9-6 loss to the Lake Elsinore (32-47, 4-5).

It was 104 degrees at game time Saturday in Lake Elsinore and the 66ers success in the game seemed to be tied to the temperature. Early when the temperature was in triple digits the 66ers stormed out to a 5-0 lead. Michael Snyder connected on a two run home run in the 4th and starting pitcher Brandon Efferson faced the minimum through four frames.

But as the weather started to cool off so did the 66ers. In the 6th inning Lake Elsinore tied things up on three run homer by Jeremy Baltz, who later recorded an RBI single to put the Storm in front for good. The 66ers did get a multi-hit game from Andy Workman who extended his hit streak to nine games.

Inland Empire wraps the series with the Storm Sunday at the Diamond before going to Rancho Cucamonga to take on the Quakes. The 66ers next home game will be the 4th of July featuring a showdown between the 66ers and division leading Lancaster, and a post game fireworks extravaganza.
