Danny Reynolds Deals, 66ers Back Above .500

April 8, 2013

San Bernardino, CA- -Danny Reynolds put together a quality start to lead the Inland Empire 66ers (3-2) to a 6-2 series opening victory over the High Desert Mavericks (1-4). Andy Workman had the breakout hit with a three run double in the 5th inning, and Eric Stamets posted a three hit performance.

Inland Empire's starting rotation has proven to be a major strength in the first week of the season. Danny Reynolds was the second 66ers starter to put up a quality start, but the first to get credit for the win. He delivered six innings allowing just two runs, retiring seven of the last eight batters he faced.

The 66ers started their offense early with a two out RBI single from Zach Borenstein, his first hit of the season. That lead would not hold with the Mavericks Ramon Morla striking a two run home run to give High Desert a lead.

But the 66ers bounced right back and loaded the bases in the 5th inning for Alex Yarbrough who tied the score with a sacrifice fly. The bases were reloaded one batter later for Workman who gave the 66ers the lead for good with a bases loaded three run double. Inland Empire added an insurance run in the 6th when Eric Stamets pushed home a run with a two out RBI single, and the bullpen returned to it's opening day form delivering three shutout innings without allowing so much as a hit.

The 66ers can insure a winning homestand with a win tomorrow over the Mavericks. Start time is 7:05 PM for Turn Back the Clock Tuesday presented by VWC Builders with special promotional prices for tickets, food and refreshments. Details are available online at 66ers.com.
