Ryan Madson Gets Save in Rehab Assignment
May 14, 2013

San Bernardino, CA- - It took rehabbing Angel Ryan Madson just six pitches to record the save in his first rehabilitation appearance for the Inland Empire 66ers (22-15) in a 4-1 win Monday night over the Visalia Rawhide (23-15). Madson completed a combined three-hitter for the Inland Empire pitching staff.

For the second straight game the Inland Empire 66ers turned a quality start into a victory. Kramer Sneed was outstanding Monday night, throwing six innings while allowing just one run on two hits and two walks. The left-hander retired six straight batters on two separate occasions on his way to his third win of the season.

Offensively Michael Snyder hit not one, but two home runs giving him three in his last two games and seven total on the season. Other exemplary offensive performances included Alex Yarbrough who scored twice and had three hits. The 66ers 2nd baseman ended the series going 10-for-16. Andy Workman also had a three hit game, and Zach Borenstein extended his hit streak to eight games and ended the series batting .533 against the Rawhide.

The most important performance of the night for Angels fans was that of Madson. The right-handed reliever had not pitched since the 2011 season, losing all of last year to Tommy John surgery. In his first appearance in a professional game since, the Temecula native needed just six pitches to get the game's final three outs. First Madson struck out one of the league's top 10 hitters, Gerson Montilla. Then he got the next two batters to record outs on just two pitches combined, on the way to the save.

The 66ers will enjoy an off day Tuesday before hitting the road to start a four game series with the High Desert Mavericks. Ryan Madson could join the 66ers for a second rehab appearance on Wednesday when the team is scheduled for a 7:05 PM first pitch and can be heard on the 66ers flagship station AM 1050 KCAA. The 66ers return home on Sunday, May 19th to host the San Jose Giants for a Family Funday Sunday presented by Toyota of San Bernardino.
