Stockton, CA- The Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernardino suffered their most lopsided defeat of the season on Tuesday night at Banner Island Ballpark falling to the Stockton Ports 14-0. The game marked the sixth time this season the Sixers have been shutout.
After a scoreless first inning the Ports (53-56, 17-22) scored four times in the second with nine-hole hitter Argenis Raga taking Sixers' starter Ryan Clark (0-2) deep to left for a three-run homer, his third of the year. The Ports added more in the third with a RBI single for Seth Brown, two-run double from Mikey White and a two-run homer from CF Luis Barrera, his fourth, and a 9-0 lead. The Ports added single runs in the fifth and sixth for an 11-0 advantage. All the while Stockton starter Dalton Sawyer was cruising as the University of Minnesota product went five scoreless allowing four hits and two walks with seven Ks to improve to 2-4 on the year and 1-1 against Inland Empire (51-58, 21-18). The Ports capped their scoring in the seventh when Brett Siddall connected on a three-run homer to right, the Ports third dinger of the game, to make it 14-0. The hit was Siddall's fourth hit of the game going along with a pair of doubles and a single. Brandon Sandoval had two of the 66ers five hits on the night while Jared Walsh extended his hit-streak to 14-games with a fourth inning single. Kyle Friedrichs earned his first save of the year tossing the final four frames allowing just one hit and fanning four.
