Snyder Saves 66ers

June 26, 2013

San Bernardino, CA - Michael Snyder kept the Inland Empire 66ers (42-35) domination of their rival Rancho Cucamonga Quakes (32-46) with a walk off two run home run to secure a 6-5 win on Wednesday. The 66ers victory wrapped the teams second sweep of the Quakes this year.

Rancho picked up three runs but the 66ers immediately started their comeback when Brennan Gowens hit his second triple of the season in the top of the first, which lead to a run.

With the 66ers trailing the Quakes for a majority of the game, Yarbrough enhanced the team's offensive chances by stealing his 6th bag of the year in the 6th inning to move in closer to home plate. This strategy proved successful when Yarbrough scored on an RBI Single from Hernandez, his 49th RBI of the season.

With only a two-run deficit for the 66ers heading into the 7th inning, a two run single hit by Eric Stamets tied the game 4-4 allowing Joel Capote and Andy Workman to pat home plate.

But the Quakes were the team to break the tie, scoring a run in the top of the 9th to make it 5-4 Rancho Cucamonga. With one last chance to sweep the Quakes, Michael Snyder blasted a two-run home run in the bottom of the 9th, leaving the final score at 6-5.

The 66ers will attempt to continue this three game winning streak during their road trip to the Lake Elsinore Storm (6/27-6/29) and the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes (7/1-7/3). The next home game for the 66ers will be on the 4th of July against the Lancaster Jethawks.
