Doubledays Top the IronBirds 3-2

Jimmy Murphy has quality start but it's not enough to push the 'Birds past Auburn

Aberdeen, MD: The Doubledays scored two in the first inning and one in the second to give their pitching staff all the run support they needed today. Jimmy Murphy was solid in his six innings of work but the 'Birds bats were quieted today after a big night last evening.DOUBLEDAYS STRIKE

Aberdeen, MD: The Doubledays scored two in the first inning and one in the second to give their pitching staff all the run support they needed today. Jimmy Murphy was solid in his six innings of work but the 'Birds bats were quieted today after a big night last evening.
DOUBLEDAYS STRIKE FIRST: Israel Pineda came through in the first with a big two run single against Jimmy Murphy. He scored both Jacob Rhinesmith and Pablo O'Connor on a line drive that landed just in front of IronBirds Right Fielder, Robert Neustrom.
In the Second inning, the doubledays would add another run thanks to a sac-fly off the bat of Cole Daily. 
FERGUSON STAYS HOT: Jaylen Ferguson pounded two balls to deep center last night. Today, he lined an RBI double for the IronBirds first run of the ball game. He would then add another double in the seventh. 
MURPHY SETTLES IN: After giving up three runs in his first two innings of work, Jimmy Murphy really settled in. He ended up going four scoreless innings and his line loooked like this when all was set and done: 6.0 IP, 3 R, 1 ER, 2 SO, 7 H. 
CURRAN COMES THRU: Seamus Curran added a big 2-out RBI double for Aberdeen in the 8th. He lined a 3-2 pitch down the 1st base line to score Nick Horvath. Horvath got it going with a line drive sinlge with two outs in the inning. It cut the Doubledays lead to one run. 
'BIRD WATCHING: Robbie Thorburn came into tonight already having six hits on the homestand. He added his seventh in the third when he smoked a single up the middle. Thorburn was a 31st round slection last season out of UNC Willmington.
Jaylen Ferguson is now 3-for-7 on this six game homestand. All three hits have been doubles. All but one of Ferguson's hits with the 'Birds have been extra basehits. 
UP NEXT: The IronBirds and Doubledays will finish their three game series tomorrow morning. First pitch is set for 11:05.
