Lowell, MA - Wednesday's doubleheader must have left much to be desired as far as wild twists and turns go. Thursday night's game three provided that and more. After four lead changes and multiple near comebacks, Aberdeen fell 13-6 and was swept by the Lowell Spinners.
DON'T HOLD YOUR BREATH: Thing got started routinely in the third inning with three hits for Aberdeen. Dalton Hoiles came home to score on Robbie Thorburn's fourth RBI of the season to make it 1-0.
HELLO?: Lowell answered immediately in that inning. Jarren Duran and Johnathan Ortega reached on a single and an error, a double steal put them on second and third. Xavier Legrant singled off of Hector Guance to bring both of them home. Tyler Dearden got a knock to score Legrant and make it 3-1 Spinners.
HI, ITS US AGAIN: Aberdeen responded. Nick Horvath led off the fourth with a double, Alexis Torres walked and Willy Yahn loaded the bases with a single. Cody Roberts RBI single scored one, with Dalton Hoiles' ground out brining home another to make it 3-3 through three and a half.
YOU THERE?: Aberdeen asked as they added another in the 5th. Adam Hall tripled with one out and scored on a a sacrifice fly by Nick Horvath. 4-3 Aberdeen after four and a half.
YES, YES, YES, YES: Lowell nodded four times at the IronBirds in the bottom half of that one and let nine batters find the plate. With Josh Keaton on the mound, the Spinners put up two runs and loaded the bases on four hits with one out. Nick Vichio took over and walked home two runs. Lowell took an 7-4 lead.
ANOTHER THING: The Spinners weren't done yet. Devlin Granberg doubled to lead off the 6th and scored on Kole Cottam's RBI single. Aberdeen trailed 8-4 and things looked grim after six.
WATCH OUT: Back to back walks and the bat of Yahn got the IronBirds going in the 8th. Yahn's single scored Horvath and set up a two RBI single by Roberts. Heading to the bottom of the 8th Aberdeen had a chance with an 8-7 lead for Lowell.
GOODNIGHT: Lowell whisked the IronBirds into the night sky with a massive 8th inning. J.J. Montgomery walked the bases loaded and was replaced with Juan Echevaria (Javier). He gave up RBI base hits to Colon and Dylan Hardy. Duran showed up with a two run triple, and Lowell cruised to a 13-7 victory.
BIRD WATCHING: Aberdeen was swept for the second time this season and has now lost five straight for the first time all year. Robbie Thorburn and Adam Hall both had hits in each of the three games in Lowell
