Aces Fall Late To River Cats, 7-4

Reno, Nev.-The Aces jumped out to an early lead Thursday night, but Sacramento completed a 4-run comeback, as Reno fell 7-4 in the series opener.

Sacramento's starting pitcher, Sonny Gray, entered Thursday night with the second best ERA (2.85) in the Pacific Coast League. However, Reno struck early against Gray with a 4-run second inning, which included RBIs by Alfredo Marte, Josh Wilson, Tuffy Gosewisch and Chris Owings.

Despite trailing 4-0 early, the River Cats would tie things up in the third inning, after a 3-run home run by second basemen Grant Green.

The score remained locked at four until the bottom half of the eighth. Sacramento's Grant Green struck yet again, with his second home run of the game. The solo shot was Green's 11th homer on the season, and put his team ahead by a score of 5-4. Left fielder Michael Taylor added a 2-run home run in the inning, to cap off the River Cats 3-run eighth.

Aces right fielder Alfredo Marte, extended his team leading active road hitting streak to five games, after going 1-for-4 at the plate.

RHP Nate Adcock took a no-decision in his start for Reno, after allowing 4 runs (3 earned) in 7.0 innings pitched.

The two teams play again tomorrow night, with first pitch set for 7:05 p.m at Raley Field. Reno will send RHP Mike Bolsinger (2-2, 4.37 ERA) to the mound, and Sacramento will counter with RHP Dan Straily (3-0, 0.96 ERA). All of the action can be heard live on KPLY 630 AM.
