Aces Lose Slugfest In Extras 10-6

RENO, Nev. - The Reno Aces and Round Rock Express had a slugfest on Wednesday night from Greater Nevada Field. Christian Walker led the way for the Aces offense, finishing 2-for-5 with a triple and a RBI. Walker's fifth-inning three-base knock was his second of the season and his second of the homestand. Former Reno Aces catcher Brett Hayes finished 4-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored. D-backs number one prospect Anthony Banda received the start on the mound for the Aces in game three of the four-game set. The southpaw finished with 6.0 innings, seven hits, six runs, and three strikeouts.
Round Rock's offense came early on Wednesday, scoring four runs on three hits and two runs in the first inning alone. Drew Robinson and Drew Stubbs leadoff the inning with a pair of walks to set the table for former MLB number one prospect Jurickson Profar. Profar found a hole up the middle advancing Stubbs to third and scoring Robinson. Back-to-back doubles by Cesar Puello and Brett Hayes brought the score to 4-0 before Reno every stepped to the plate.

The Aces would respond with four of their own off of the Round Rock starter Brady Dragmire. Dragmire, who made his first Triple-A start tonight, allowed four hits in the inning. Carlos Rivero (.330) ripped a triple off of the center field wall with runners on first and third to tie the game at four. Both pitchers would settle down in the second inning, yielding no runs. Round Rock would tack on two runs in the top of the third inning to give them the 6-4 advantage. Reno would scratch across a run in the bottom of the fourth inning and another in the bottom of the seventh inning to tie things up at six.
Rubby De La Rosa, Eric Davis, and Jimmie Sherfy would hold the Round Rock offense to just one hit over four innings of work before passing the ball to Kaleb Fleck in the top of the 10^th inning. The Texas Rangers farm club solved the hard-throwing right-hander's equation with a four-run spot to start extras. The four-run cushion was enough for Preston Claiborne to slam the door and ensure the victory.
Reno will look to take the series in the final game tomorrow morning from Greater Nevada Field with the first pitch scheduled for 11:35 AM.
