Davidson and Owings Named to Futures Game Roster

RENO, Nev.- Reno Aces infielders Matt Davidson and Chris Owings will represent the U.S. Team that the 15th annual SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game, to take place Sunday, July 14 at Citi Field in New York.

Last week, it was announced that Davidson and RHP Archie Bradley of the Mobile Bay Bears will represent the D-backs in the Futures Game. Owings was added today, taking the place of Seattle Mariners shortstop Brad Miller, who made his Major League debut last Friday.

Davidson, who entered the season ranked the No. 4 prospect in the D-backs organization by MLB.com and Baseball America, has been one of the premier hitters in the Aces lineup this season. Cited as the Best Power Hitter in the D-backs system by Baseball America, Davidson is batting .288 (87x302) with 10 home runs and 47 RBI through July 1.  

The 22-year-old was selected by the D-backs in the first round (35th overall) of the 2009 First-Year Player Draft out of Yucaipa (Calif.) High School.

Owings has emerged as a star in his first season at the Triple-A level. He leads all of professional baseball in hits (130) and ranks second in the PCL in batting average (.353). Owings also ranks first in the PCL in runs scored (69), is tied for first in total bases (179) and ranked fifth in RBI (55). Last month, Owings became the first batter in Aces franchise history to record 40 or more hits in three consecutive months. He entered the season ranked the D-backs No. 6 prospect by MLB.com and No. 7 by Baseball America.

The 21-year-old was selected by the D-backs in the supplemental first round of the 2009 First-Year Player Draft out of Gilbert High School in South Carolina.

The Futures Game features the top Minor League prospects competing in a nine-inning contest as part of Taco Bell All-Star Sunday. The U.S. Team leads the all-time series, 8-6. The game will begin at 2:00 p.m. (EDT) and can be viewed live on ESPN2, ESPN2 HD and MLB.com.

Taco Bell All-Star Sunday is the first of three days of All-Star events at Citi Field, culminating with the 84th All-Star Game on Tuesday, July 16.
