Davidson's homer clinches Opening Day win

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.-A two-run home run by Matt Davidson in the top of the ninth gave the Aces a 5-4 edge over the Colorado Springs Sky Sox on Opening Night at Security Service Field.

Davidson, ranked the D-backs' No. 4 prospect by Baseball America, went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI in his Triple-A debut.

The Aces and Sky Sox scored three runs apiece in the fourth inning, remaining gridlocked until the ninth. Davidson's homer put the Aces up 5-3, but the Sky Sox countered with another run in the bottom of the frame off reliever Evan Marshall.

Taylor Harbin and Brad Snyder recorded a hit each for Reno. Snyder's double in the fourth plated two runs to give the Aces their first lead of the game.

Reliever Joe Paterson (1-0, 0.00 ERA) earned the win for the Aces, throwing a perfect frame in the eighth. Marshall (0-0, 0.00 ERA) was credited with his first save of the season.

Reno starter Randall Delgado (0-0, 5.79 ERA) cruised through his first three innings of work, retiring the first nine batters he faced. Delgado began to struggle, giving up three runs on four hits before he was pulled with two outs in the top of the fifth. 

Jeff Manship (0-1, 4.50 ERA), who threw the eighth and ninth innings for Colorado Springs, was charged with the loss.

The series continues on Friday night at Security Service Field. RHP Chase Anderson (0-0, No ERA) gets the nod for Reno, while the Sky Sox will counter with RHP Tyler Chatwood (0-0, No ERA). First pitch is set for 5:35 p.m. PT, and all the action can be heard live on Fox Sports 630 AM.
