RENO, Nev. - The Reno Aces hosted United States Army Staff Sergeant Lattie Evans Friday night for a Saint Mary's "Home Run for Life" ceremony. Sergeant Evans was diagnosed with prostate cancer after a routine physical exam. Staff Sergeant Evans rounded the bases, commemorating his "Home Run for Life" in the middle of the second inning Friday night. The Reno Aces and El Paso Chihuahuas players and staff lined up along each baseline to greet Lattie as he made his way toward home plate while his story of adversity and triumph was publicly announced to the stadium crowd. In the game, Reno fell by a score of 10-4. Braden Shipley got the start for the Aces, falling to 5-5 on the season. The Nevada right-hander allowed 8 runs on 10 hits and struck out five in five innings of work. Offensively Jeremy Hazelbaker finished 3-for-3 with two RBI. Hazelbaker hit his sixth home run of the season in the 4th inning, this one of the inside-the-park variety.
 
Reno got into the scoring column in the first inning. Oswaldo Arcia drew a five-pitch walk off El Paso starter Dillon Overton (2-2, 6.75) setting up Christian Walker. Walker launched his 26th double of the season to drive in Arcia. Walker's RBI was his league-leading 89th of the season.
 
El Paso responded with four of their own - two in the second inning and two in the third. Former Aces outfielder Nick Buss hit a solo shot off Shipley in the second inning. Collin Cowgill followed Buss' lead with a solo homer of his own right after Buss. Christian Villanueva hit his 17th dinger of the season in the third inning to give El Paso a 4-1 lead.
 
El Paso would tack on six more runs over the next six innings. Reno put together a small comeback in the bottom of the 8th. Back-to-back singles by Tony Renda and Arcia followed by a walk by Jack Reinheimer loaded the bases for Hazelbaker. The speedy outfielder drew a bases-loaded walk to bring in Renda and narrow the Chihuahuas lead to 10-3. Kristopher Negrón grounded into a fielders choice to bring in Arcia and plate the final Aces run of the evening.
 
The loss brings Reno to a 55-37 record. Right-hander Matt Koch will get the start for the Aces tomorrow looking for his second consecutive victory.
