For Immediate Release
April 25, 2013

RENO, Nev.-Northern Nevada high school baseball players will have the opportunity to compete in a High School Home Run Derby at Aces Ballpark beginning Sunday, April 28, the club announced today.

Batters will compete for the chance to take part in the 2013 Triple-A Home Run Derby, to be held at Aces Ballpark on July 15 as part of the Triple-A All-Star festivities.

Following the Aces 1:05 p.m. game on Sunday, batters from over a dozen Northern Nevada high schools will take the field for the first round of the competition. Battle Mountain, Bishop Manogue, Damonte Ranch, Galena, Incline, McQueen, North Tahoe, North Valleys, Reed, Reno, Spanish Springs, Truckee and Yerington high schools are all slated to have at least one participant.

Each player will be given five outs to score the most points, with the top eight hitters advancing to the second round on June 2.

One point will be awarded if a participant hits a ball to the warning track, two points if a participant hits a ball off the wall, and three points if a player hits a home run. All participants will be using metal bats.

The June 2 semifinal will be narrowed down to two participants who will slug it out before the Aces July 3 game. The winner of that round will compete in the Triple-A Home Run Derby.

Fans wishing to attend the first round of High School Home Run Derby must purchase a ticket to Sunday's Aces game. Tickets for Sunday's game, and all Aces home games, can be bought at RenoAces.com, by calling (775) 334-7000 or by visiting the Aces Ballpark Ticket Office.
