Skaggs Shines in Aces Win

ROUND ROCK, Texas-LHP Tyler Skaggs dealt his team-leading sixth quality start of the season on Wednesday night, as the Reno Aces won 6-2 over the Round Rock Express at The Dell Diamond.

Skaggs gave up just two runs-one earned-on five hits across 7.2 innings, shining in his longest outing of the season. The lefty faced the minimum through the first 5.2 innings, allowing just one hit in the second before the Aces turned a double play behind him. Joey Butler put the Express on the board for the first time, with a solo home run in the seventh.

Reno pushed across a run for the first time in the series in the first inning, on a single, an error and a pair of groundouts. The club posted four more runs in the fourth, including a three-run home run off the bat of catcher Ed Easley, to snap a three-game losing skid.

At the dish for Reno, Tony Campana and Matt Davidson each went 2-for-4 with a run scored. Davidson also had two RBI on the night.

Express infielder Yangervis Solarte accounted for a third of Round Rock's six hits, going 2-for-3.

Skaggs earned his fourth win of the season for his effort. The D-backs No. 1 prospect recorded 10 strikeouts, matching his career Triple-A high, and did not allow a walk.

RHP Lisalverto Bonilla was charged with the loss, evening his record at 3-3. He gave up two runs-one earned-on just one hit in 3.0 innings. 

The series wraps up on Thursday night in Round Rock, as Reno looks to secure a series split. RHP Randall Delgado (1-3, 7.62 ERA) will get the nod for Reno, while the Express will counter with RHP Scott Richmond (0-0, 2.25 ERA). First pitch is set for 5:05 p.m. PT at The Dell Diamond.
