Summary
Akron RubberDucks right fielder Trenton Brooks had his first two-homer game of the season and matched a season high with five RBI, third baseman Nolan Jones added a solo home run, and left-hander Scott Moss (2-0) won his second straight start since joining the RubberDucks, who defeated the Portland Sea Dogs, 7-3, at Hadlock Field Saturday night.

Turning Point
With a scoreless game in the top of the second inning, Portland right-hander Bryan Mata (2-5) walked RubberDucks second baseman Alexis Pantoja , who went to second base on a wild pitch and reached third when left fielder Oscar Gonzalez singled to right field. Shortstop Ernie Clement hit a sacrifice fly, before Mata hit Jones with a pitch. Brooks then drilled his first home run since July 13 to the seats of the right field pavilion for a 4-0 lead. After that point, Portland never brought the tying run to bat the rest of the game.
Mound Presence
In his second start since being traded from Cincinnati on July 31, Moss retired the first nine batters of the game before walking the leadoff batter in the fourth inning. An errant pickoff throw and wild-pitch strikeout scored the run, but the Sea Dogs' only hit off Moss was designated hitter Michael Osinski's fifth-inning leadoff single. Right-hander Kyle Dowdy began the sixth inning and provided scoreless relief around three hits and two walks until a ninth-inning, two-out home run by Portland second baseman Brett Netzer. Left-hander Ben Krauth allowed a single before recording the final out.
Duck Tales
Akron extended the lead in the fifth inning, when Mata walked Jones, and Brooks hit his second home run to the right field pavilion, ending Mata's start after allowing six earned runs on five hits in four innings. In the seventh inning, Jones hit a one-out home run off right-hander Matthew Gorst. Outside of loading the bases without scoring in the first inning, Akron was retired in order in every other inning it did not score.
