(AKRON, OHIO) Feb. 27, 2019 - The Akron RubberDucks are seeking entertaining, talented individuals to audition for a chance to be one of the team's official mascots for the 2019 season and to try out for the opportunity to sing the national anthem before one of 70 home games in 2019. Both auditions are Sat., March 16, with national anthem auditions from 10 a.m. to noon, and the mascot auditions running 1-2 p.m.
"Our mascots are an important part of the experience at Canal Park," said promotions coordinator Kyle Hixenbaugh. "We will be looking for energetic, fun-loving people who love nothing more than to bringing smiles to fans' faces!"
National Anthem Auditions Details (10 a.m.-Noon):
What: Tryouts to sing the "Star-Spangled Banner" at one of the RubberDucks' 70 home games in 2019.
When/Where: Saturday, March 16, from 10 a.m.-Noon at Canal Park. Candidates should enter through the main administrative office entrance located at 300 S. Main St. Candidates should wear appropriate clothing and be prepared to sing outside on the concourse over Canal Park's public address system. All ages are welcome!
-PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED- Candidates can email Kyle Hixenbaugh, firstname.lastname@example.org or call 330-253-5151 during regular business hours (Mon.-Fri. 9 a.m.-5 p.m.) to reserve a time slot.
Day-of-Event: Candidates should arrive 15 minutes prior to their secured-time slot and be ready to sing.
Auditions will be cut off after 90 seconds. No tapes or recordings are required nor will be accepted.
Mascot Auditions Details (1-2 p.m.):
What: Tryouts for the RubberDucks four official mascots: "Orbit" the space cat, "Homer" the inflatable pigeon, "Rubberta" the duck or "Webster" the duck.
When/Where: Saturday, March 16, from 1-2 p.m. Candidates should enter through the main administrative office entrance located at 300 S. Main St. Candidates should wear comfortable clothing and be prepared to audition.
**Prior mascot experience is strongly preferred**
