The Isotopes (9-15) avoided their first five-game series sweep since August of 2013, defeating the Las Vegas 51s (9-15), 7-6, on Sunday afternoon at Isotopes Park.

After leaving his first start with an injury and being ejected in his second outing, Yency Almonte put together a nice performance on the mound for the Isotopes. The 23-year-old right-hander earned the win after allowing three runs over his 5.0 innings. Almonte was able to consistently reach the mid-90s on the radar gun.

At the plate for Albuquerque, six Isotopes knocked in runs while catcher Tom Murphy blasted his fifth home run of the season.

With his hitting streak on the line, Daniel Castro connected on a single in the bottom of the eighth inning. With hits in 22 consecutive games, Castro's streak now ranks third all-time in Isotopes history behind Mike Tauchman (28) and Dustin Garneau (24).

The Isotopes now hit the road for a quick four-game road trip in Tacoma to take on the Rainiers. Lefty Sam Howard will get the start for the Isotopes on Monday. First pitch from Cheney Stadium is set for 7:05 p.m.
