Isotopes Split Series With 11-5 Triumph

Oklahoma City, OK – The Isotopes fell behind two runs after the third inning but scored six unanswered runs, including three, three-run frames, to take a lead it wouldn’t relinquish to win the series finale, 11-5, Sunday afternoon at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. With the win, Albuquerque split the series, 3-3.

Oklahoma City, OK – The Isotopes fell behind two runs after the third inning but scored six unanswered runs, including three, three-run frames, to take a lead it wouldn’t relinquish to win the series finale, 11-5, Sunday afternoon at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

With the win, Albuquerque split the series, 3-3.

The Isotopes 14 hits, four doubles, a triple and one homer. D.J. Peterson led the way with three RBI and one double. Carlos Pérez and Brian Serven each registered two RBI as well. Elehuris Montero stroked his fifth homer of the year and second three-hit game of the year. Serven and Montero each had a game-high three hits. Three other Isotopes tallied two-hit games: Wynton Bernard, Pérez and Ryan Vilade.

After two scoreless frames, the Dodgers got on the board in the third behind a Miguel Vargas two-run double.

However, Albuquerque plated three in the fourth frame to take a 3-2 lead. Bernard led off the inning with a single and then stole second base. Montes then walked prior to Bernard swiping third. Lopes then doubled home Bernard. Two batters later, Pérez skied a sac fly to left. Serven followed with an RBI single to center to cap the frame.

The Isotopes plated three more runs in the sixth. Serven laced an RBI double for the first run of the frame. Then with the bases loaded, both D.J. Peterson and LJ Hatch were hit two collect RBI. Oklahoma City got two runs back in the bottom of the sixth on a Stefen Romero two-run blast.

But, once again, Albuquerque responded with their third three-run frame. Montero scorched a solo blast to left and then Peterson one-hopped a two-run double off the left field wall, giving the Isotopes a 9-4 lead. The Dodgers’ Jake Lamb stayed hot and drove in one with a double for one run in the seventh.

The away team plated two insurance runs in the ninth inning to take a comfortable 11-5 lead. Pérez lined an RBI double for the first run of the frame while Vilade skied an RBI triple for the second.

Ryan Feltner earned his fourth-straight win after tossing 5.0 innings, surrendering two runs on four hits and two walks with five punchouts.

Topes Scope: - The Isotopes are now 3-2 in series finales.

-Albuquerque has a 2-2-1 series record over five sets on the year.

-The Isotopes are 4-8 against the Dodgers this year.

-Bernard swiped two bags on the afternoon, the first time an Isotope stole at least two bags since Bernard had two Aug. 31, 2021, against Round Rock.

-Bernard reached base safely at least three times for the fourth time this year.

-Lopes has a hit in 12 of his last 13 games.

-Serven has an RBI in eight of his last 10 games and hits in 10 of his last 12 games. Registered his second three-hit game of the year (4/28 vs. SAC)

-Feltner has completed 5.0 innings in all six of his starts for Albuquerque while fanning at least five in all but one.

-The Isotopes scored 23 of its 31 runs in the first four innings during the six-game set against Oklahoma City.

-The 11 runs scored by the Isotopes are the most scored against OKC this year.

-Montero smacked his first home run since April 27. Also tallied his second three-hit game of the year (4/24 @ Round Rock).

-Peterson collected three RBI for the first time since April 5, 2019, with Triple-A Charlotte.
