Curve slammed by SeaWolves in series finale

ERIE, Pa. - Logan Hill hit a pair of homers, but the Altoona Curve lost to the Erie SeaWolves, 9-4, on Sunday afternoon at UPMC Park.

The Curve (36-33) lost two of three games in the series against the SeaWolves (33-40).
The SeaWolves stormed ahead in the bottom of the fifth. With the bases loaded, Sergio Alcántara worked a walk from Eduardo Vera (Loss, 1-2) to the the score at 2-2. Daz Cameron followed with a grand slam to put the SeaWolves ahead, 6-2.
The Curve opened the scoring in the top of the second with back-to-back solo homers by Logan Hill and Jordan George, the first-back homers by Altoona batters since 2016.
In the bottom of the second, the SeaWolves plated a run on a pick-off attempt throwing error by Vera to cut the Curve lead in half.
Vera picked up his second straight loss after allowing six runs on five hits with three walks and two strikeouts over five innings.
Erie starter Beau Burrows (Win, 6-5) set a new season high with 11 strikeouts over his six innings, allowing two runs on four hits with a season-high four walks.
In the seventh inning, Bret Helton issued three consecutive walks before Harold Castro drove a three-run double to open the Erie lead to 9-2.
In the eighth, Hill hit a two-run homer, becoming the first Curve player to hit multiple homers in a game this season. Hill is now tied with teammate, Will Craig, for the most homers in the Pirates system with 11.
Jason Martin worked three walks in the game, tying the most for a Curve batter this season.
With the road trip concluded, the Curve face the Harrisburg Senators at home on Monday night. Right-hander Mitch Keller (8-2, 3.00) will start for the Curve. Harrisburg has not yet announced a starting pitcher. First pitch at Peoples Natural Gas Field is set for 7 p.m.  
The Curve begin a four-day, five-game series on Monday night with Mitsubishi Monday, and fans can stop by Five Star Mitsubishi in Altoona to pick up free Grandstand ticket for the game.
