CURVE, Pa. - Altoona Curve left-handed pitcher Domingo Robles has been named Eastern League Pitcher of the Week for August 26-September 2, the league announced on Tuesday.
Over two starts, Robles went 1-0 with a 0.64 ERA (1 ER/14 IP), struck out 14 hitters and walked one. His ERA for the week was the lowest among pitchers that made multiple starts.

The 21-year-old's performance on August 26 versus Akron helped him picked up the league's last pitcher of the week honor for 2019 when he pitched a nine-inning, complete-game shutout at Peoples Natural Gas Field. He held the RubberDucks to five hits, struck out five and required 95 pitches, 73 for strikes, to pick up his second scoreless, complete-game effort of the season. In his final outing of the campaign on August 31 at Harrisburg, Robles retired his first 11 hitters before consecutive two-out hits snapped a scoreless streak of 13 innings. He pitched five one-run innings with six strikeouts on 64 pitches.
Robles finished the season with a league-best three complete games and was one of three individuals to throw multiple shutouts during the 2019 campaign.
An international signing by the Pittsburgh Pirates on July 2, 2014, Robles pitched to a 2-1 record with a 1.58 ERA (6 ER/34 IP) over his last five starts of the season to drop his season-long mark to 4.02. He started the year with A-Adv. Bradenton and went 5-5 with a 2.61 ERA during 10 Florida State League starts before he was promoted to Double-A on May 28.
For Robles, the honor marks the first Pitcher of the Week award of his career and the fourth weekly award for a Curve player in 2019. Right-hander James Marvel was E.L. Pitcher of the Week for April 15-21 while Hunter Owen (April 22-28) and Logan Hill (August 12-18) each picked up Player of the Week awards earlier in the season.
