CURVE, PA – Harrisburg used two hits, a walk, a sacrifice fly and an error to score three runs in the top of the ninth inning on their way to a 7-4 victory over the Altoona Curve on Tuesday night at Peoples Natural Gas Field.

With the game tied at four, Cole Freeman singled and Rhett Wiseman drew a walk to put men at first and second with one out. Corban Joseph then dropped down a bunt and Jesus Valdez’s throw got away from Mason Martin and checked up against the tarp. Two runs came around to score and Joseph stood on third by the time Rodolfo Castro dug the ball out from beneath the tarp. Aldrem Corredor lifted sacrifice fly later in the inning to take a 7-4 lead which Frankie Bartow held down for his seventh save of the campaign.

Altoona scored three times in the first inning to support RHP Roansy Contreras. Rodolfo Castro doubled home Oneil Cruz to take the early lead and after a walk from Martin, Brendt Citta and Cal Mitchell each drove in a run with a single to build the 3-0 Curve advantage.

The Senators rallied for three runs in the third inning against Contreras, aided by the first of three errors committed in the game by the Curve. After Freeman was hit by a pitch, Wiseman bounced into a potential inning-ending double play that Castro mishandled to put men on first and second. Joseph came through with an RBI single and Corredor and Ali Castillo added RBI singles later in the inning to draw the game even at three.

Harrisburg took the lead on a solo homer from Wiseman in the fifth, but Contreras came back to finish his outing with back-to-back strikeouts. The 21-year-old right-hander finished five innings for the seventh time in eight starts this season, he allowed four runs, one earned, on six hits, no walks and struck out seven.

The Curve drew even in the seventh inning when they loaded the bases with nobody out to start the frame. Rodolfo Castro bounced into a double play to plate the tying run and Gabe Klobosits managed to get Mason Martin to ground out to keep the game tied at four.

Jesus Valdez led the offensive attack for the Curve with his first three-hit game at Double-A. Cruz, Castro and Citta each added two-hit games in the defeat.

Cam Alldred delivered two scoreless innings of relief following Contreras’ outing and Oddy Nunez stranded a pair of runners on base in a scoreless eighth inning. John O’Reilly was charged with the loss, allowing three runs, one earned, on two hits and a walk in the ninth.

The Curve will continue their six-game series with the Harrisburg Senators on Wednesday night. RHP Travis MacGregor (1-1, 4.21) will get the start for Altoona, RHP Luis Reyes (3-4, 5.09) will take the ball for Harrisburg.
