Frisco, Texas – The Sod Poodles lost their fifth straight to start their series against the Frisco RoughRiders from Riders Field. The Sod Poodles trailed early but cut the lead to just two before the Texas Rangers Double-A affiliate rattled off seven unanswered runs to close out Saturday's game.

Amarillo was held hitless through the first three innings, getting only one baserunner aboard during those innings. Frisco got their night started with a two-run home run in the bottom of the first and tacked on a run in each of the next two innings, taking a 4-0 lead into the fourth.

Tristin English collected the first hit of the night for Amarillo, a slow roller up the third-base line. Roby Enriquez hit a soft flyball into shallow left field that was unable to be corralled by a diving attempt from Frisco's Dustin Harris. The carom allowed English to race home from first for the first Amarillo run of the night. The RoughRiders leader in home runs injured his wrist on the play and had to be taken out of the lineup. Juan Centeno cut the deficit in half with a hard-hit single back up the middle of the infield.

Right-hander Brent Teller replaced Ross Carver on the mound for Amarillo in the bottom of the fourth. Teller surrendered a two-out bunt single before retiring the next Rider to keep Frisco off the scoreboard for the first half-inning on Saturday night. Teller once again worked around a two-out baserunner in the 5th to keep it a two-run game heading to the top of the 6th.

Frisco added a run after drawing a two-out walk in the sixth inning. A triple scored one as Jax Biggers was thrown out at home attempting for an inside-the-park home run.

Jake Rice came on in the 7th inning to replace Teller. A walk and two singles loaded the bases for Luisangel Acuna. The 20-year-old hit his first Double-A home run after being promoted to Frisco earlier in the week. The grand slam made it a 9-2 game. A double brought an end to Rice's night and sent right-hander Justin Lewis out of the bullpen. Lewis retired the next two to get out of the inning and sent the game to the 8th.

Amarillo placed a pair of runners on base but could not push runs across. A double play removed the runner off base followed by an inning-ending lineput after a two-out walk got aboard.

Frisco tacked on two more runs in the 8th inning as Danny Oriente finished the inning with a 6-4 groundout after replacing Lewis on the bump.

The series concludes on Sunday, August 7. RHP Deyni Olivero takes the mound for the second time this series as the Sod Poodles look to avoid the series sweep. Following the game, Amarillo will return home for the start of a six-game series against the Springfield Cardinals and No. 6 overall prospect, Jordan Walker.
