AMARILLO, Texas - The Amarillo Sod Poodles fell to the Corpus Christi Hooks Monday night in front of a crowd of 5,353 at HODGETOWN, stopping their win streak at three games. Kyle Overstreet extended his current hit-streak to eight games, but the Sod Poodles offense was kept silent as they collected only one run on six hits. Starter T.J. Weir went four innings allowing two earned runs on six hits while striking out four Corpus Christi batters. Weir received the loss as his record drops to 2-3 on the season. Despite the loss, the Sod Poodles don't lose ground in the standings and remain at three games back as Frisco also lost Monday night.
The Corpus Christi Hooks opened the scoring in the first inning of Monday night's contest when Seth Beer and Ronnie Dawson both hit RBI singles to give the Hooks the early 2-0 lead.

Corpus Christi tacked on two runs on two hits in the top of the second inning as they extended their lead over the Sod Poodles by a score of 4-0. The first run came when Abraham Toro singled home Joshua Rojas and then Beer drove in his second RBI of the ballgame with a sharp single to center field.

Hooks starting pitcher Brandon Bielak entered the sixth inning of Monday night's contest without allowing a hit to an Amarillo batter. That came to an end when Brad Zunica roped the second pitch he saw to center field. Three batters later Ivan Castillo hit a sacrifice fly to center field allowing Zunica to score and cut the Hooks lead to 4-1.

In the top of the seventh, the Hooks answered right back as Granden Goetzman hit an RBI single to center field to push the Corpus Christi lead to 5-1.

The Sod Poodles attempted to come back in the bottom of the ninth as Owen Miller hit a leadoff single to shallow center field, but Amarillo would be retired in order after the Miller single as the Sod Poodles fell to Hooks by a final score of 5-1.
On Tuesday night, the Amarillo Sod Poodles and Corpus Christi Hooks will resume their three-game series at HODGETOWN in downtown Amarillo.
