BROOKLYN, NY – (May 4, 2025) – The Brooklyn Cyclones defeated the Wilmington Blue Rocks by the score of 7-1 on a soggy Sunday afternoon at Maimonides Park. LF Jefrey De Los Santos went 2-for-4 with four RBI to pace the Brooklyn bats, while RHP Noah Hall (2-2) tossed 5.0 shutout frames to collect the win.
The Cyclones wasted no time getting on the scoreboard on Sunday afternoon, as they took the lead in the bottom of the first. Marco Vargas started the threat when he reached on an error by 2B Armando Cruz. After stealing second, Vargas was chased home courtesy of a booming double off the bat of DH Jacob Reimer. For the 21-year-old it was his 23rd RBI – good for second in the South Atlantic League. Later in the inning Reimer came around to score on an RBI single from 1B Chris Suero that extended the ‘Clones lead to 2-0 after one frame.
In the second the lead would swell to 3-0 after RF Diego Mosquera worked a leadoff walk and stole second before coming home on an RBI single by SS Marco Vargas. For Vargas, it was his sixth RBI in five games with the Cyclones.
After a scoreless third inning, Brooklyn tacked on a pair in the fourth courtesy of a two-run blast off the bat of Jefrey De Los Santos. For the Cyclones it was the seventh home run hit to right field this season after hitting just six homers to right field during the entire 2024 season.
Noah Hall (2-2) made the start for Brooklyn and tossed 5.0 shutout frames to collect the win. The right hander allowed just a pair of hits and two walks while striking out six. When he left the game in the top of the sixth, Wilmington was able to plate their lone run of the game – on a passed ball – that trimmed the Brooklyn advantage to 5-1.
But in the bottom of the frame, Jefrey De Los Santos was back at it again with a two-RBI single that extended the Brooklyn lead to 7-1, which is how the game would end.
With the win, the Cyclones improved to 17-9 and took four of the six games in the series against Wilmington. The ‘Clones will now head out on the road to take on the Asheville Tourists starting on Tuesday.
