Rosters have been announced for the second Spring Breakout, a four-day event showcasing the future of baseball with games between the best prospects in each farm system across Grapefruit and Cactus League ballparks. The Tampa Bay Rays roster features several of the organization's top-rated minor league players, including top prospect Carson Williams, who is likely to begin the 2025 campaign with Durham.
Williams, 21, in addition to being rated the top Rays prospect is also listed as the ninth-best overall prospect in baseball by MLB.com entering the 2025 campaign. The California native spent the entire 2024 season with Double-A Montgomery, posting a .256 average (111-433), adding 83 runs, 20 doubles, six triples, 20 homers, and 69 RBI across 115 contests. He was drafted by the Rays as the 28th overall selection in the first round of the 2021 MLB Draft out of Torrey Pines High School.
Other notable players listed on Tampa Bay's Spring Breakout roster includes eight of MLB.com's top ten Rays prospects, including Williams (1), fellow infielders Xavier Isaac (2), Brayden Taylor (3), Tre' Morgan (4), as well as outfielders Theo Gillen (5), Aidan Smith (6), Chandler Simpson (7), and right-hander Santiago Suarez (9). Isaac, Taylor, Morgan, and Simpson could also very well join Williams in Durham at some point this year.
