The El Paso Chihuahuas won their second straight game Wednesday afternoon, defeating the Oklahoma City Comets 5-4 in Game 1 of a doubleheader. The doubleheader was to make up for a game rained out at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark on July 11.

San Diego Padres outfielder Samad Taylor went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, including a go-ahead RBI double in the top of the eighth inning. El Paso catcher Ethan Salas went 1-for-3 with an RBI single and a stolen base, and he's reached base in 19 of his first 21 Triple-A games.

Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Blake Treinen pitched a scoreless inning on MLB Injury Rehab for Oklahoma City. The Chihuahuas advanced to 6-7 in extra-inning games and Oklahoma City dropped to 3-6.

The Comets won 6-0 in the second game, giving the Chihuahuas their fifth shutout loss of the season. It was Oklahoma City's first win in the three games of the series so far.

Chihuahuas outfielder Carlos Rodríguez went 2-for-3 with two singles and he also had two hits in Game 1. Oklahoma City outfielder Ryan Fitzgerald had multiple hits in both games and is 6-for-9 in the series. Fitzgerald's 145 hits this season are the most among Triple-A players.

The Chihuahuas are 3-1 in doubleheader games this season.
