The Tacoma Rainiers scored seven runs in their 11-batter sixth inning and beat the El Paso Chihuahuas 8-1 Friday night at Southwest University Park. The teams have split the first four games of the series.
El Paso’s run came on a solo home run by Tim Locastro to lead off the bottom of the second inning. Locastro went 2-for-3 with a walk and has reached base six times in his three games played this series. Locastro and Forrest Wall had two stolen bases each and El Paso had five as a team. The Chihuahuas’ 65 stolen bases are second to Oklahoma City’s 69 for the Pacific Coast League lead. Chihuahuas starter Ryan Bergert pitched three shutout innings and hasn’t allowed any runs in his last 8.1 innings.
El Paso’s Rodolfo Duran entered the game in the eighth inning and played third base for the first time in his professional career. The Chihuahuas turned three double plays to tie their season high.
