Pacheco's Three-Homer Night Leads SeaWolves Past Curve

ERIE, PA - Izaac Pacheco announced his return to the lineup with his first career three-homer game as the Erie SeaWolves (26-12, 62-44) exploded for a 10-6 win over the Altoona Curve (16-22, 47-60) on Saturday night at UPMC Park.

The SeaWolves got off to a hot start in the first inning against Altoona starter Connor Oliver. Thayron Liranzo homered for the second straight game with a two-run blast to the top of the Erie Insurance Arena in left field. The arena roof wouldn't get much of a break as the SeaWolves placed three more homers out to left on the night. Pacheco launched his first home run of the night and was followed by the 19th longball from EJ Exposito to give Erie an early 4-0 lead.

Altoona got runs against SeaWolves starter Max Alba in the second and fourth innings to cut the deficit in half, but Erie's offense had quite the response in the fifth. After Andrew Jenkins drew a walk to lead off the inning, Pacheco went opposite field with his second homer of the game to restore a four-run SeaWolves lead. For the second time in the game, Exposito got in on the fun. The SeaWolves infielder smoked a towering home run to straightaway center field to extend the lead to 7-2 after five.

Despite the offensive explosion from Erie, the Curve weren't going away. Altoona put two on the bases with one out in the sixth to chase Alba from the game and plated three of their own in the inning. Titus Dumitru doubled in a pair and scored on a Keiner Delgado single that cut the lead to 7-5.

Patrick Lee led off the bottom of the sixth with a double before swiping third and scoring on a sacrifice fly from Josue Briceño to provide some insurance heading to the final three innings.

Lonnie White Jr. and Callan Moss notched back-to-back singles against Wandisson Charles to start the seventh as Altoona brought the tying run to the plate. Charles delievered in the big moment, using a punchout to help him hold Altoona to a single run in the inning.

The SeaWolves landed the final blow in the bottom of the seventh with the most impressive at-bat of the night from Pacheco. The left-hander fouled off eight pitches before sending a 3-2 pitch deep into the Erie night for his third home run of the game to extend the lead to 10-6.

Trevin Michael got the ball in the ninth inning to slam the door for Erie. The right-hander delivered another scoreless outing, working 1-2-3 through the heart of the Altoona order to secure a second straight SeaWolves win.

Erie is back in action Sunday to wrap up the six-game series with Altoona and the twelve-game homestand. Kenny Serwa is set to make his return to the Erie rotation after pitching with Triple-A Toledo earlier this week.
